Financial Tip of the Day:
Yesterday, I visited the library to take advantage of an excellent free class that they had. It made me consider what an amazing resource for wealth building the library is.
When I worked as a Financial Counselor as part of NYC’s Office of Financial Empowerment (pictured), one of my weekly counseling locations was a library. So, naturally when I met with clients there we would usually discuss how they could use the library to better manage their expenses.
The free activities, books, movies, music, etc. at libraries can significantly cut your entertainment expenses. Whenever there’s a book that I’m interested in, I always try to borrow it from the library first. This gives me a chance to read it (for free) and see if I want to buy it.
And the free classes and courses at libraries can save hundreds to thousands of dollars in education costs. For example, my library is offering computer programming, accounting and several other courses – completely FREE. And this is true at most libraries.
Plus, most also have extensive digital libraries full of even more online courses, audiobooks and tons more.
And of course, there is a limitless supply of information on one of my favorite subjects: financial literacy. Ah, I just love the library! :)
